We believe that ensuring health and rights for women and girls is fundamental to achieving lasting, humane and equitable development in Africa.

Over the past thirty years evidence from all over the world proves that investing in women & girls is the most effective and sustainable means of reducing poverty.

Yet, while women do most of the work they are still the poorest in most societies; they constantly run the risk of death and injury during pregnancy and child birth and, in Africa, they enjoy fewer rights than men.

Providing women and girls with better access to health, education and financial resources breaks the cycle of poverty that entraps them, their families and their communities. Advocating for laws and policies to protect women and girls rights reduces socially condoned violations as well as individually perpetrated violence.
