WECC (Women Empowerment & Community Consensus Framework) January 2007
Workshop held in Nairobi, Kenya

The objective of the workshop was to increase the technical capacity of organisations working to promote women empowerment and stop FGM/C by providing skills necessary to develop and implement effective projects. The workshop was based on the WECC Framework.

This workshop was to kick start the second round of Rainbo partner identification cycle. The aim was to identify and recruit six new organizations into the in-country partnership pool. A total of 20 organisations were invited, 19 representing 18 organizations participated in the five-day training/workshop.

The workshop was facilitated by Rainbo’s Sub Granting and Kenya Program Coordinator – Mukami Rimberia and the newly recruited Kenya Program Coordinator – Grace Karanja. Maryan Sheikh Abdi from the Population Council was a guest facilitator, she presented a case study of a project working with Islamic religious leaders in North Eastern Kenya. This resonated very well with the participants, majority of who are adherents to the Islamic faith. Some input was provided by a consultant, Fatma Abdi.
