Kenya, Tanzania & Sudan

In collaboration with AIDOS, Rainbo organized three training workshops on Innovative tools for the abandonment of the practice of female genital mutilation/cutting (FGM/C) in Kenya, Tanzania and Sudan. All the three workshops targeted individuals working on issues of Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights (SRH&R) and particularly FGM/C as an aspect of clinical and community health, law and child protection or community outreach with NGOs and CBOs in Kenya and Somali. A total of 68 participants attended the three workshops; 18 in Tanzania, 29 in Kenya and 21 in Sudan.

The objective of the workshops was to get the participants to sufficiently internalize the necessary concepts for abandonment of FGM/C and to equip participants with skills which would help them design and develop effective projects which would attract funding and technical support.

The Kenyan workshop was held in Nairobi from the 26th October to 4th November 2006, followed by the Tanzania workshop held between 26th November and 2ndrd and 8th February, 2007. December 2006. Finally the Sudan workshop was held in Port Sudan between 3rd and 8th February, 2007.
