The Royal College of Midwifes Forum 15th June 2007
Work Overseas: Your Skills can Make a Difference

Amany Abouzeid, Director of Programs at Rainbo delivered the closing speech at the event organised by The Royal College of Nursing, The Royal College of Midwives, Medicins San Frontiers and Voluntary Service Overseas (VSO).

This collaborative event aimed to provide a platform for all stakeholders, planners, providers and users of healthcare to debate and discuss global trends in the provision of healthcare. It was designed to give registered practitioners an opportunity to explore the options around gaining experience of health care provision in developing countries.

Delegates:

  • Gained knowledge and understanding of the role of major NGO charities in mobilising healthcare provision.
  • Were exposed to the realities of the experiences of healthcare workers during emergencies (conflict, floods, earthquakes).
  • Had an opportunity to network with providers of healthcare overseas.
  • Had an opportunity to discuss their future career plans or intentions to work overseas.
  • Gained a better understanding of the needs of diverse populations and groups.
