Ending FGM

Empowering women to end female genital mutilation (FGM) & violence against women (VAW)

FGM is a practice caused by the unequal social & economic status of women. Evidence from all over Africa shows that women's empowerment is the most effective means to end FGM & other forms of gender based violence.

Rainbo has developed a uniquely effective approach to end FGM and VAW through increasing women's empowerment whilst ensuring support from their communities. We call it the Women's Empowerment and Community Consensus (WECC) framework.

"Improving the lives of African girls and women and empower them to participate in development through improving their access to reproductive health and rights."
